The Happy Hive

Ever wonder why we keep posting photos of yummy food, wacky people, and drooling pets on our social network? On the surface it might seem we are just putting out inane stuff just so we can post something, anything, to fill up content. The truth is, we do pay attention, we take photos, and post things that are intrinsically important to us. For us in Happy Hive, it’s the camaraderie that comes with good food, life stories and funny anecdotes while we take a break from work. It’s in these moments when we set aside work for a while to binge on the latest Netflix series or championship basketball together that cements friendships and our relationship with our Happy Hive coworkers. Of course, nothing beats sharing a glass of cold beer together after a long day’s work. Those are the moments we give importance to; those are the memories we will remember, and those photos are irrefutable proof that you can get work done well without sacrificing your sanity.

Happy Hive soft opening 2017

Amidst the chaos and mess of our coworking space is a community that knows how to share, just like how any healthy relationship should be. We understand that we have a professional relationship, but friendship takes over naturally as good times spent working together becomes the norm. John D. Rockefeller said that a friendship founded on business is better than a business founded on friendship. That speaks loud and true for Happy Hive. We become closer as time goes by, from clients, staff, suppliers, or service providers to friends and family.

Behind the camera, Happy Hive members learn the importance of prioritizing which part of our lives needs focus at any given time. Whether it be family, friends, work, or health. We are each other’s support group when things get heavy. Happy Hive was built on the idea that yes, we need money to survive but there are much more important things a person needs to thrive and be happy. That is where the community plays a big part in making it an easier place to work at, a happier world to live in. It might seem counterintuitive and quirky, even whimsical, but defying the traditional corporate setup proves to be one of the ways we could spend more time on other things more important than work.

Of course, heading in the direction away from the norm does not mean that it’s all rainbows and unicorns. We get our fair share of hardships and struggles, but these are the challenges we are willing to face for the lifestyle we have consciously and constantly chosen. We are choosing our battles wisely by letting go of the notion that we have to be filthy rich in order to live a comfortable and happy life. Being loaded won’t hurt but sometimes that load exacts an unforeseen and heavy tax, oftentimes with the time with our family and friends, or consequently at the cost of our health.

So yeah, life is good here at Happy Hive, life is happy.
